Jin Shin Do ® Acupressure

Jin Shin Do® Acupressure is an ancient Oriental system of healing. It combines gentle yet deep finger pressure on specific acu-points and verbal body focusing techniques to help release tension, relieve pain and promote well being. It is a gentle technique that offers a practical way of dealing with daily stress addressing both physical and emotional tension and pain.

How It Works

Energy flows through the body like a river. If the river becomes blocked the water no longer runs smoothly. Stress, trauma, tension or repressed emotions may effect the energy so it no longer flows through the body smoothly or efficiently. When energy is no longer moving harmoniously, an environment for illness and disease may be created. The goal of JSD® Acupressure is to open any blockages and encourage the harmonious flow of energy within the body. This promotes pain relief, vitality and wellbeing.

What A Session Looks Like

The client is clothed in loose, comfortable clothing and lies on their back on a massage table. Specific acupressure points are held along the energy meridians of the body two at a time to encourage tension to release and to balance the body energy. Needles are not used. A session may last an hour to an hour and a half.

You may experience tingling sensations as the energy begins to move through your body. One often feels more supple and content after a session.

Jin Shin Do® Acupressure is not intended for the diagnosis, treatment or cure of disease. It is a relaxation therapy, and a useful adjunct to licensed, qualified medical or psychological care. For any persistent pain or symptom, even a seemingly minor one, the reader is strongly encouraged to consult a medical doctor. When used in conjunction with standard medical treatment, the Jin Shin Do® Acupressure technique can assist the healing process by releasing tension, decreasing stress and encouraging a sense of increased well-being.
